Today you will be writing a letter to Santa Claus. In this letter you will list 3-5 items your would like to receive from him. To save Santa time, you will create a hyperlink to all you items on your Santa Wish List

After today’s assignment you will be able to insert a hyperlink, understand the concept of target frame and shop online.

What is a hyperlink?
Hyperlink is a colored and underlined text or a graphic that you click to go to a file, a location in a file, and an HTML page on the Web.

You will also need to go to several online retailers to create your hyperlink. If you need help finding online retailers Mr. Phu has create a list of a dozen online retailers that you can go to. To retrieve that list please Click Here.

Create a hyperlink

1)      Hyperlink Command:

  • a)      High light your gift
  • b)      “Right click” on your gift
  • c)      Scroll down to hyperlink

2)      Find Your Gift:

  • a)      Go to Internet Explorer.
  • b)      Type in your retailer…for advance student you can Google your gift if you don’t know where your gift is sold online
  • c)      Find your gift.
  • d)      High Light your URL

What is an URL
An Internet address (for example, http://www.hmco.com/trade/), usually consisting of the access protocol (http), the domain name (www.hmco.com), and optionally the path to a file or resource residing on that server (trade).

3)      To hyperlink to your store items without leaving your letter, you will need to

  • a)      Click on Target Frame
  • b)      New Window

Repeat Step 1-3 until all your items on your list is properly hyperlink.
